Activities at Herons Wey

Herons Wey is an outdoor activity venue with extensive grounds and river access located in secluded countryside 4 miles from Farnham in Surrey. Brief details of activities can be found by hovering over the images below. Full details and prices can be found in the Herons Wey On Site Activity Pack.

On site activities include: Archery, Zip Wire, Grass Sledges, Kayak, Go Wild Activity Course, Pedal Karts, Giant Swing, Climbing Frame, Orienteering Courses, Camp Fire Circles, Hike Fire Area, Quiet Ceremonial Area, Interactive Sundial, Pond Dipping, Fitness Trail

Local Activities and places of interest include: Ruins of Waverley Abbey, Tilford Museum and the historic town of Farnham.

Boulder Picture Archery: All participants need to wear a long sleeved top during archery and suitable foot wear, such as trainers or boots. Instructors are fully qualified and all hold the minimum qualification of Archery GB (formerly the GNAS). If you would like to take part in an Archery session at Herons Wey please give as much notice as possible (preferably at least 6 weeks). Boulder Picture Climbing Boulder: A maximum of 6 people can use the boulder at any one time. A one hour session is suitable for up to 24 participants. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Helmets and suitable footwear must be worn whilst on the boulder. Geo-caching Geocaching : GPS units are available to hire. Geocaching at Herons Wey is a taster for the real thing. The caches have been set by a local Guide unit. Most of the caches are traditional, and are either a film canister or a small container. Go Wild! Go Wild! : An exciting activity comprising a rope bridge, bosun’s chair and zip wire. Participants must wear suitable clothing and footwear and must be supervised by an adult at all times. Helmets must be worn at all times whilst using the rope bridge, bosun’s chair and zip wire activities. Grass Sledges Grass Sledges: Grass sledges and red helmets are available from the store near the slope. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Orienteering Orienteering: 3 different courses have been set around the woods and camp site. Pedal Karts Pedal Karts: The pedal kart track is located in the roped area next to the sundial near Pyne Hut. Children need to be supervised by an adult at all times. Sports Equipment Sports Equipment: Includes: Large Hoops / Frisbees/ Quoits/ Table Tennis / Rounders equipment / Grass skis / Stilts / Boules / Large garden games (Jenga etc.) and a cricket set. Zip Wire Zip-wire: A 50m wire, situated on the edge of South Field near to the grass sledges? Herons Wey Shop Herons Wey Shop: Badges, pens, notebooks, mugs, poloshirts, sweatshirts, outdoor and novelty toys etc. but no sweets or crisps. Opening times by arrangement. Booking essential Walks & Quizzies Walks and Quizzes: There are a number of on-site quizzes and off-site walks, sheets available from Pyne Hut. Water based activities Water based activities: Sit-on Kayaks, paddles, buoyancy jackets and helmets are available. Standup Paddle Boards Standup Paddle Boards: Paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets are available. Rafting Rafting: Equipment for making rafts is in the canoe store. Helmets and buoyancy jackets must be worn when rafting. Camp Fire Circles Camp Fire Circles: There are 3 camp fire circles available on site. The booking sheet is in Pyne Hut. Hike Fire Bases Hike Fire Bases: There are hike fire bases available in the woods to the right of Pyne Hut and another group in the woods behind Alders/Saffron Field sites. The booking sheet is in Pyne Hut. Pax Wey Pax Wey: Pax Wey is situated behind Enid’s Cabin. It is an area set aside for groups or individuals for quiet thought, services, ceremonies or for Guide’s Own. Quiet Area Quiet Area: There is an area for quiet activities near the footpath leading into the woods alongside Enid’s Cabin. Birds Nest Birds Nest play equipment & Trampoline: These are located behind Weyside. Campsite users should check availability with the leader of any unit using Weyside at the same time. Trampoline Trampoline: A new trampoline has been installed behind Weyside Wendy House Wendy House: The Wendy House is located behind Weyside and may be used free of charge. Fitness Trail Fitness Trail: The fitness trail is located in the bottom woods and may be used free of charge. Parachutes Parachutes: 1 parachute is stored in Weyside and another in the activity store beside Pyne Hut. Push Ball Push Ball: A large push ball is stored in the activity store beside Pyne Hut and can be used by groups. The pushball has an electric inflator and takes approximately 20 minutes to inflate. Pond Dipping Pond Dipping: The pond is close to Weyside. Pond dipping equipment is stored in Weyside and can be used by groups. Swing Swing: The swing is located next to the Pedal Kart area. Sundial Sundial: An interactive sundial can be found next to Pyne Hut. Wildlife Hide Wildlige Hide: The wildlife hide is located in the woods beyond the ‘Go Wild!’ activity area
